Welcome to the website of Ian Wessen

I love museums, crossword puzzles, and playlists and I am a connosieur of $5 and under Trader Joe’s wines. I’m also something of a writer, but only web browsers read my work.

I’m a self-taught software engineer and designer based in San Francisco, California though originally from Los Angeles. My focus for the last five years has been building web sites and web applications for small companies, design agencies, as well as some freelance work. I specialize in writing JavaScript on the frontend, but I know enough to get myself in trouble just about anywhere on a modern web stack.

I come from a family of graphic designers who sparked my love of drawing, design, and typography at an early age. In college, I studied math and physics. I got my first experience in web development from editing the HTML inside my MySpace profile, but later became more formal when my mom gifted me the GoDaddy receipt for this domain name for my 16th birthday. I’ve been breaking making websites ever since.
